The impact of stockpiling for Brexit on the pharmaceutical industry

The pharmaceutical industry has long anticipated that a no-deal Brexit could result in an international logistics crisis. As a result, pharmaceutical companies all over the world are preparing to stockpile in order to continue the flow of life-critical medications.

However, stockpiling is having a significant effect on available warehousing space in the UK, with three quarters of warehouse owners declaring they no longer have available space. In addition, pharmaceutical companies also lack the internal capacity to stockpile large quantities of medications and therefore face the worrying prospect of product shortages in the case of a no-deal Brexit.

Preparing a critical secondary supply chain

Following the pharmaceutical industry’s recent warning on stockpiling critical medications due to Coronavirus and the uncertainty of Brexit looming on the horizon, the pharmaceutical supply chain faces a serious risk of disruption if contingency plans are not put in place.

Coronavirus has brought about some unexpected challenges for the pharmaceutical industry, with an unprecedented increase in demand for critical care respiratory medicines and inhalers – products which are not usually stockpiled or required in such large quantities.

Technoprint carries out first virtual audit during COVID-19 pandemic

The Coronavirus pandemic has caused us to reassess and adapt a number of ways we carry out day-to-day business here at Technoprint.

Earlier this month, BSI carried out our very first virtual audit at Technoprint against our ISO9001:2015 and PS9000:2016 accreditations – both of which we passed with flying colours. We were able to offer this audit via Microsoft Teams and also carried out a virtual tour of our facility over FaceTime. This ensured that the audit was just as extensive as if the auditor was physically on site.

The Importance of Local Pharmaceutical Supply Chains During a Global Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on industries and economies all over the world, and unsurprisingly one of the most affected areas is the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Using overseas suppliers is commonplace in the pharmaceutical industry. However, the Coronavirus crisis is causing longer lead times in logistics, which in turn presents the possibility of patients across the globe being deprived of time-sensitive medication.

Using a local supply chain during these times is a great solution to this problem,

Accreditation: Why it Counts

Whichever industry sector you might find yourself in, accreditation is a crucial factor in confirming a company’s credibility. Prior to enquiring about a company’s products or services, both businesses and consumers will often consider the question of proof when it comes to quality of service. Therefore, it is vital to ensure that you have the right accreditations and qualifications in place in order to stand out against the competition.

Accreditations are important as they not only assure both existing and potential customers that your products and services have been assessed to an industry recognised standard,
