Technoprint present cheque to local cancer charity
On Thursday 24th January 2019, Technoprint staff were delighted to present Mr David Laundon, Chairman of Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Awareness & Support Group and his wife, Wendy with a cheque for £2,281.00.
During 2018, Technoprint staff were busy fundraising for this charity. They completed a 30K cycle ride, a 5K Middlewich run, a 10K Winsford run, an obstacle course at Tatton Park and have sold hundreds of raffle tickets for Easter and Christmas hampers.
At the beginning of the year, a fund-raising target of £2000 was set, we knew this was a big ask for a company of just 24 employees, but we did it and each and every one of us are proud of this fantastic achievement.
Following the presentation of the cheque, David gave an informative presentation regarding what the charity does, how it helps men detect potential changes with their prostate and how they support men and their families if prostate cancer is diagnosed. He also explained what the prostate is, what changes men should look out for and guidance on what to do next if someone is concerned.
The charity organises public screening events which offer men a blood test. The next event is taking place on Saturday 13th April at Nantwich Civic Hall (times tbc). The test costs just £17.50 of which a donation of £10 from the individual is required to put towards the test. Once gift aid of £2.50 has been added, the charity contributes £5.00. With our contribution of £2,281.00, we have been able to fund 456 men having the blood test.
